P2GE TWELVE MEDFORD JIXIL TRIBUXE, MEDFORD, OREGON, THURSDAY, MAY 19, 1932. i FEHL'S ATTITUDE AGENTS OF LAW (Continued from page one) nd I challenge and re-ehellnge him to cite one butanoe, Can there be nr broader challenge to any man who even counta himself aa law abiding? Can there be a greater In dictment againat a man seeking pub lic office It he falla to produce one article from hit newspaper wherein he haa uphld the oflcera of law aa agalnat the slimy underworld? Call to mind, If you will, Mr. Voter, what he aald about August D. Sin gler, who aa therlff of Jackson coun ty waa brutally murdered In tne aia charge of duty by a thug. Recall If you will, hla article on the Bowles- Loucka murder trial In Portland one year ago, where the wife of Bowlea waa killed In the apartment or Mies Loucka, where ahe had apparently gone to talk to Miss Loucke about the ion affair ahe (Mlaa uracaa, i baring with her (Mra. Bowlea') hua band, and Mr. Fehl condemns the law enforcement bodlea for bringing Mlaa Ioucke and Mr. Bowlea to trial, and where In the same article he aaya there waa nothing wrong about Mr. Bowles aeeklng Mlaa uucaa- com. "pany, notwithstanding the fact that Mr. Bowlea had apent night after night In the apartment of Mlaa Ioucks. deserting hla own home ana flreelde. These Instancee and these articles are pointed out to enow the character and the trend of mind of the man who wrote them, Mr. Fehl. Call to mind, If you will, what he aid about the Judges of election when he demanded a recount of the votes In the last city election. Such women aa Mra. Applegate, Mra. Boy Lewis and Mra. Arnsplger. No, It la not surprising that Mr, Fehl haa failed to eren attempt to answer my former challenge. Any man who standi upon a false pre mlae, whose life consist of noise, bluff and hooey, la alwaya cowardly, and never meeU any Issue In a straightforward way. In my former articles I asked him to explain his utterances to the publlo not to me. Hla cowardly bluff In which he ad vertised In the newspaper, stating "If Pipes la present at the Armory I will answer him," la typical of Ms Ignorance and bluff. It waa not neceaaary for Pipes to be present for him to explain hla utterances of support for one of our lowest erlmlnala. , Nor waa It necea amry for Plpea to be present for him to explain hla friendship for the tax pavers in hla sale of the Washington school site to the school board for 5350, which waa purchased by the Pehla on tax title for tfls.78. Per haps this exhibition of friendship for the taxpayers waa the Inspiration that coined bis phrase "The gravy train." A. W. PIPES. Painters ' Attend . Plckert at dinner meeting given by the National Lead company laat night at the Hotel Medford to about 45 maater palntera and paint dealers of thla city and vicinity. J. J. Wilson, local repre aentatlve, acted aa chairman. A three-reel motion picture, "A Painter and Hla Profile. " waa ahown to llluatrate graphically what can be done to reduce overhead, Improve service to customers, to get new business and speed up collections.
