Caldwell, field secretary of the National Retail Credit associa tion, here from Bt. Louis, told the orowd of 60 merchants and profes sional men gathered at the Hotel Medford for luncheon today noon. Mr, Caldwell's address was directed to those extending credits and was aimed to encourage the exchange of Information for the mutual benefit of all concerned. Credit has been too easily obtained during the past several years, he in formed his audience. The people of the country have made unlimited purchases, which they were unable to liquidate to any Important por tion. The merchants of today, for the most part, he explained, are selling credits instead of merchandise. There is too much competition among mer chants on the basis of credits. Be fore any accounts are accepted the buying habits of purchasers are ab solutely essential, Mr. Caldwell made It emphatic to his listeners, and In conclusion urged all merchants In Medford to realize and utilize the benefits of co-operation In exchange of credit Information. Lou Corbett of the Western Auto Suppply Co. led the singing of songs, and O. B. McMath of the Simons French company was official pianist for the luncheon hour.
