The Oakdale precinct polling place 111 be moved from the Oakdale store to the senior high school: the Worth Main precinct will be changed from Flchtner'a Oarage to the Hotel Holland across the street, and the Newtown precinct, formerly In the Washington school, to a vacant house, not yet selected. It la also probable that the South Main pre cinct will be moved to the base ment of the public library, if ar rangements can be made. T George Hlgglns, a Junior high school student, Is scheduled to ap pear before the Juvenile court to morrow t? answer to the charge of throwing acid on a dog belonging to Charles Rose, Spring street, this city. Young Hlgglns, according to the sheriff, admitted throwing the add and told a frank story of the Inci dent. Both Sheriff Jennings and County Judge Lamkln believe that the act waa committed thou&htleealy and not maliciously. According to the youth, he ob tained the sulphuric acid thrown upon the dog from the Junior high laboratory where It was used In mak ing testa In the chemical classes. He says that he dog chased little chick ens in his yard and he threw the acl l upon the animal thinking it "would tickle him up and he would go home." Instead the fiery fluid burned the hide and hair off the rear portions of the dog. Young Hlgglns wss detained late yesterday and allowed to go on hla own recognizance pending the hear ing. County Judge Lamkln and Sheriff Jennings Investigated the case. At the home ol one suspect Judge Lam kln took a severe test. It waa fig ured that aclc had been thrown from an auto battery. Judge Lamkln stuck hla finger In the battery and did n - lose hla finger, or finger nail, proving it was not strong enough to take the hair off the dog. Colonel Alfred E. Clark. Republi can candidate for United States sen ator from Oregon, will be In this city Saturday. Is the announcement of hla campaign manager, F. j. Tooze. for mer managing editor of the Salem Statesman, and will address a crowd at tha Central Point Grange hall to morrow evening. A larr meeting of the Grange and guests is anticipated in the neigh boring town to greet the prospective senator. Hla addreea will be follow ed by a Orange dance. Hog Fuel Burner For Court House Being Installed The new sawdust and wood waste burners ordered by the members of our county court for Jackson county's new court house are being Installed this week by H. R. Riley, the engineer for the Combustion Engineering Co. of Portland. AH of the burner equip ment la on the ground and Mr. Riley expects to have the court house heat ing plant completely installed by the end of this week. County court officials decided to put In wood waste burners after a thorough Investigation which proved to their satisfaction that the saving In fuel casta by using this type of equipment would amount to 0 percent or more over other fuel obtainable In this district. By using sawdust and wood waste the county court la help ing the local Industry aa there baa alwaya been more sawdust and wood waste produced In Jackson county than the demand In the territory for this type of fuel has required. Sawdust can be used to great ad vantage in beating hotels, laundries, office buildings, and even email dwel lings wherever a furnace la Installed.
