Becker against Alex An derson and Bill Gibson, of the Ivy Street market, were cautioned by the court khla morning not to be so minute in their questioning of wit nesses about trivial matters and to eliminate detail questioning, in or der to complete the trial by evening. Becker Is suing for 815,000 m the re sult of a fight with the defendants last November. The defendants coun ter with a suit for 96000 each. The cautioning of the court came when Attorney Don Newbury started to query Herbert Hunsaker, a wit ness, about what became of the bal ance of a gallon of liquor. Hunsaker said he "confiscated" it after the fracas and the next day gave Becker a drink from a pint bottle. Disparity between the weight of Becker and the two defendants, and the allegation that Anderson held a cleaver and Gibson a butcher knife, when the fight ended, as stressed by the plain U5f in cross examination of Hulsaker, who testified he was a friend of all concerned. He testified that he had tried to take the cleaver from Anderson. The cleaver was an exhibit at the trial. The defense opened late yesterday after Medford policemen and Dr. L. D. Inskeep and the plaintiff had tes tified. Gibson was called to the stand In his own behalf this morn ing and told the story of the battle, which centered largely around a gal lon of moonshine. The court Indicated a special ef fort would be made to complete the case today for deliberation by a Jury with live women members. Candidates for county offices will be Introduced to the Central Point Grange and guests Friday night, April 8, according to announcement today. The public is invited to the spe cial meeting to be held at the Grange hall and an auction sale will be a feature of the evening. Each woman Is asked to bring a pie. One candidate agrees to be efficient, economical and pro gressive. The cotinty clerk's records ahow that In 1028, when the last prtwi dentlnl election was held, there was a dearth, of slogans but In the eight years preceding "Law enforcement and upholding the Volstead act" j were favored.
