Chllders spent Saturday and Sunday at Prospect, where Mr. Chllders hunted. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ward of Ferns valley visited Mrs. Ward's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Morse Sunday. Who Do Sunday school class of the Ashland Methodist church held a social meeting Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs, W. A. Stratton. There were 24 ladles present. Mrs James Lennox, Mrs. C. Abrams, Mrs. J. R. McCracken, with Mrs. Strat ton, were hostesses. Valley View community club meets October 22. Mrs. J. W. Mont gomery of Ashland, gold star mother, who went to France this summer, will give a talk on her trip. Mr. Wal term Ire of Ashland was a business visitor In our community Friday. E. Mr. and Mrs. John Hessenauer en joyed a visit from William Mitchell of Chicago, the first of the week. Mr. Mitchell Is an old friend of the Hessenauers. W. L. Welch, in company with friends from Grants Pass, left Sat urday for northern California to spend several days In deer hunting. Mrs. H. J. Ewlng, who was injured during a controversy over a public road, has returned from the Medford hospital to the home of a friend in Ashland. Mrs. J. H. Williams, left the first of the week for Tacoma. She will make an Indefinite visit with her niece, Mrs. Brock. Mrs. Boargman left Monday for Weed, Calif., to spend several day with her mother, Mrs. Wm. Pratt. Mr. and Mrs. Victor York of Cas cade Locks, Wash., arrived last week for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Fred York. Mrs. Leo Schroeneger entertained Mrs. John Hessenauer, Mrs. I . E. Dead man and her daughter on Wed nesday. Miss Mary Hlghburger, granddaugh ter of Mrs. Howard, has entered the state university at Boulder, Colo. Miss Mary attended the Bellvlew school several years ago. J. A. McCanse returned Tuesday from his old home In Missouri, where he has been visiting for the past month. While there he attended a reunion and with sixty other descen dants, erected a monument in honor of his grandfather, who was one of the first settlers of Missouri. The governor of Missouri gave the ad dress. Mrs. W. E. TJmphette and daugh ter from Florence, Ore., visited her sister, Mrs. J. E. lowland last week. Mrs. J. A. McCanse was a dinner guest at the home of Mrs. L. D. Meservey Friday. 4 Patients Flee Fire. OAKLAND. Cat. Oct. at (AP) A' fire, starting In the attic, raced through St. Anthonys hospital here today. On the evening of Oct. 15 a spare wheel, an auto robe, and a flash light belonging to Lawrence Wlnslow, of Faber and Co. store were taken from hla car. Cliff Hick-son and Rudy Weldman have been digging deeper In the well at Mrs. Welclman's home. They have now reached a depth of 26 ft. and have struck a good flow of water, but will dig a few fet deeper to assure an adequate supply. Mrs. Amos Ayera of Medford spent Oct. 17 visiting Mr. and Mrs. William Perry. Out-of-town visitors Oct. 17 were Mr and Mrs. Fred Dlnsmore, George Daley, W. M. Managers of Oak circle met at the home of Mrs. Lillian Coleman Friday evening to go over work and prob lems of the order. . Painting of the Grange hall was completed Monday. The work was done by the men of the Grange. Last Thursday the ladles met at the hall and put up new decorations, and cleaned the hall tn general. A cov ered dish luncheon was enjoyed at noon. Mrs. Chub Anderson was hostess at a dinner at her home here Sunday for Mrs. Donna Graffis, Mrs. Ted Furry and chUdren, Mrs. Leta Furry and Mrs. Jamlma Rose. v GRANGE BANQUET DATE IS SET FOR EVENING OCT. 30 There have been some changes in plana already announced, concerning the get-together banquet to be given by the Jacksonville Grange. The regular session of the Orange will be held October 23, and the banquet wilt be held the following Friday, October 30. Several important items of business made the change neces sary. Further announcements concern ing the banquet will be made Fri day evening and through the Mall Tribune. All members are asked to keep this last date open for the banquet as It Is hoped that every member will be able to come. All new members are especially Invited to attend. A fine dinner and enter tainment Is being provided to afford a real get-together social evening. A splendid club meeting was held at Mrs. Jones' Wednesday afternoon. A report or the extension service rally day held at Central Point was made by Mrs. Severance, Mrs. Lang ley and Mabel Sims. Plans were formulated relative to several pro jects to be studied this year by the club. Committees for the banquet arrangements were also appointed. Superintendent G. A. Bris coe of Ashland schools gave a talk on "Parent Education." Mr. Briscoe' is state chairman of this branch of the P. T. A. work. Mrs. E. B. Dunn and Roy Burns each sang a solo. The toy orchestra, from Mrs. Wal termire'a room, gave several numbers. The .harmonica band from Mrs. Mc Klnney'a room, made its initial ap pearance. A Hallowe'en playlet was a very entertaining part of the program. Mrs. Geo. King, Mrs. W. L. Welcoh and Mrs. Roy Burns, hostesses for the evening, served refreshments.
