PRISON SENTENCE AWAITS BENNETT IN ASSAULT CASE Frank Bennett, logger and mar ried man, found guilty by a Jury Saturday night, after nearly eight hours deliberation, of a statutory offense . Involving a 15 year old high school girl, will be sentenced a .week from today by Circuit Judge II. D. Norton. The law pro vides a' prison .term of not less than three year, nor more than 20 years. Richard .Frits,- compnnlon of Bennett on the "potting party" last March, found guilty of a mis demeanor charge, as a result of the same escapade, ' will be sen tenced at the same 4ime. Fritz lias been in Jail for several weeks. Attorney Thomas J. Enright, representing Bennett, announced Saturday night shortly after the verdict was returned, that an ap peal to the state supreme court would be tuken in Bennett's behalf. The Jury stood 9 tc 3, during the first hnlf of the balloting, and to 2 during the latter half, according to courthouse reports. It Was also ' reported that one uress hold 1 out for acquittal. There were three women on the ury. One objection advanced was thnt Bonnett was Indicted on a lesser1 count than Fritz. 'T. E. Daniels of this city was foreman. Thb Jury was polled by request of the defense. Bennett did not wlnca during the' reading of the ' Verdict, but when he later met hla loyal wife, I burst into tears and wept bitterly. According to the testimony.
