Ore. (Spl.) More than 1600 visitors are expected in Ashland during the three days of the Oregon State Elks convention June 30. July 1 and 2, according to Secretary J. E. Thornton, based on advance registration and reser vations. .. ! Oltzen, the well known Medford veterinary, as such inspector for Jakson county, the appointment moans a practical re appointment for him, an for years past he has been the county herd Inspector nnd performed similar duties. The duties of the Inspectors just appointed are to inspect all live stock shipped In and out of the counties, and enforce ul livestock quarantine regulations. Their terms nre for two years, and their salaries range from f25 to $KU0 a year, each county paying the ; alary of its inspector. PHOENIX, Or., - June 26. (Special.) Neighbors ' of Wood craft met June 24th, and decided that beginning with August, one meeting a month would be held during August, September and October, because many members would be working in the fruit. The meeting on the fourth Wednesday of each month will be dispensed with. Two meetings will be held in July.
