Local labor is defined in the school board's statements as follows: "Kirst Persons actually having residence within the limits of school district No. 4! on December 1, l:to. "Second Persons who may move into school district No. 49 after De cember 1, !i::o, prnvidin!; such per son or persons huvo become actual home owners within the district. "Third Persons who own real property within the limits of school district No. 49 on which he or she is liable or subject to pay a tax, even though such persons may not actually be living; within the limits tif the school district. "All persons employed by any contracior or other person to do work or perform service in connec tion within the erection, alteration or equipping of any school build ing within the school district will secure such employment only upon j presentation of a card obtained from the office ot the school board identifying him as local labor, and ! no contractor or other employer shall engage any person for em 1 ployment in connection with the ' construction or equipping of any . school building unless such person I shall first present a labor identifi cation card secured from the school office. "A local labor identification card will he issued by the school office to any person qualified to hold one. Persons not known to the school j office must be identified by some i one who is known to it. H will not be unmindful of the inter ests of the taxpayers nor its high est duty to the schools. "In the case of 'holdups' or what the board considers unreasonable demands, or prices, or conditions imposed whether on the part of la bor, local contractors, or local fur nishers of material, the board re serves the right to revoke prompt ly any or all favor clauses in this statement of position, which are being abused, and throw the mat ter open to outside competition on an even basis, if that should be come necessary to protect the proper interests of the taxpayers and the schools." Buktxl Cabbago and Tomatoes A Fine Combination 3 cups chopped cooked cabbage 1 cups well-seasoned tomato sauce 1 cup grated cheese 1 cup bread crumbs Halt Pepper Put alternate layers of tomato and cabbage In a greased baking dish. Sprinkle each layer with cheeso and crumbs, salt, and pep per. Dot top with bits of butter and bake in a slow oven (300 de grees Fahrenheit) until thorough ly heated and slightly browned 20 to 30 minutes. Serve with meat loaf or pork chops. Individual Mock Venison Plea 3 pounds round steak 1 teaspoon aalt Pepper 3 tablespoons flour 2 cups carrots, sliced cup turnips, sliced I cup potatoes, cubed fi small onions Cut beef into one-inch cubes. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, ond flour. Fry In a little fat until brown. Cover with boiling water and cook one hour. Add carrots, onions, and turnips and cook fif teen minutes longer. Thicken gravy with a little flour smoothed in cold water. Add potatoes and pour into Individual ramekins. Cover each with a crust of flaky pastry. Jiako In a hot over ( -ir degrees Fahrenheit) for ten min utes, then reduce the heat to 3-5 degrees Fahrenheit, and cook for forty minutes longer. Pour Huh sauce over the tonguo and bake thirty minutes.
