Tho decoration, a special medal of1 tho National Geographic so-1 eiety, was conferred upon him last night by President Hoover In com memoration of his south pole flight. The presentation took place on the same stage upon which ho received from President Coolidge a medal In honor of his flight over the north pole. In lauding the aviator's accom plishments, Mr. Hoover said ' he ppoko not on!yr for himself but for the nation as a Whole. "For men of our race to master extraordinary difficulty, to carry through groat adventure, thrills us with pride, with hope and with confidence.1 he said. Obituary W ATKINS- Mark Anthony Wnt kins, age 53 year, died at the home uf John Winningham in Jackson ville. June 21st, suffering but a short time. Mr. Watklns was born at what Is now known as Copper nnd has made his home there all his life.
