Picture and Wall Hangings One hears so often of late that picture are not In style any more und many would-be modern house keepers have cleared their walls.. In some homes we admit this has been a god thing and In other many really beautiful pieces of true artistic value have been discarded. The time has passed, It Is true, when cheap crayon portraits, cal endars and poor prints no longer crowd our walls, hut there Is and always will be, a place for two elasseH of pictures, one the really worth-while work tt( art, the un usual picture which becomes mop; and more valuable as the years puss, and the artist lives In the work which he produced. And, sec ond, by the picture which Is very personal and has a strong iippeui to one or all members of the fam ily, for these recall to mind some past experience or friend, and no decorator haw the right to order these removed. Jazzed walls or walls papered with a pif moti need design do not take kindly to pictures or wall hangings because they do not fur pish the proper background and only large pieces should be used on such wall, and then rather spar ingly. All pictures should lie hung with concealed fasteners or by two parallel cords from the picture molding, and always low enough to be enjoyed. A good rule to fol low Is to hang them sq that the center of Interesl In I he. picture U six feet from the floor.
