The Northwe.st Ca liners assoi-i.;-tion recently issued its 1130 stand ards for eannliiR pears, and they have met with considerable oppo sition anions growers of tho north west, according to reports. The growers claim the specifications give the cauncrs too much techni cal latitude, and, that only the most perfect pears can meet with the requirements for tho No. i grade. The No, 2 grade specifications are also drastic. It is the purpose of the Portland meeting to fix standards similar ti thoso ndopted in California and Washington, amh made a part of the horticultural law.
