The refund to be asked repre sents the amount that, din-inn the last 10 years, would have been paid in taxes by federal owned In dian reservation lands had they been privately owned, Including also the amount that the county has spent in the construction of schools, roads, bridges and ferries and other Improvements on the res ervation. State Interested The state is inierested In the plan for the reason that the county promises, in event of success, that it will pay the stale what would huve accrued in state taxes on the land ill 10 years. The change Ik made in lino with the decision of the city council some months ko to place this de partment of various Inspections under City Superintendent Kred Si heffel, and the fact that only recently Mr. HinabaiKer resistied, he having under consideration 1 hree offers with loca 1 business concerns, hut not having yet made up his mind as to which he will acvpt. OUT OF HOSPITAL Looking like un eighteen1 year old high school varsity football player nnd mentally feeling like one, but still lacking much of his old vigor, having lost ho much weight during his long illness. At torney Allison Moulton resumed practice yesterday ami today was ensconsed among tiis law bonks in his office in the Liberty building. Mr. Moulton is very glad he is living, as he had a close call to death during his serious illness witii pneumonia, and only the best of medical care and application of medical science saved him. Ho was two months ill in a J'ortlaud hospital, nnd spent the following two months convalescing nt the home of his brother, the well known Portland attorney, follow ing which ho only recently return ed with his family and is again residing at Ills homo high up on the Jacksonville hill. He expects to bo fully recovered and to have regained much ot nis former weight in n few weeks. M. W. A. TO HOLD ROLL CALL MEET The regular meeting of Modern Woodmen of America will bp held at the W.
