Tho dairy industry could be brought up to a much higher status than it enjoys at the present, speakers de clared. One Med ford creamery reported that it has been expending $:! 5.000 monthly in payment for dairy pro ducts and could easily buy five times as much without overloading its present market. liiscussion revealed that outside dairy inter ests could improve the Industry by establishing themselves in the Rogue River valley but it also re vealed that such interests would not buy valley dairy property in an undeveloped state. Farmers are encouraged to plant all unused land to meadows and take n greater interest in dairy products. It Is likely a meeting of Med ford business men and realty board members will be called soon to discuss the matter with grange leaders from nil pnrts of the county to devise ways and means by which southern Oregon can be come a greater dairy country. 4 College Women's Club Will .Meet Tmuurriiu. At least, up to ditto no other person has reported having seen tho phenomenon. Dwfght happened to look up nt the sky to see what he thought whs a shooting star falling with a lot of smoke trailing behind it, and while he was watching its descent it suddenly burst into fragments, making a brilliant sight, which quickly disappeared from viow, Dwlght Is not addicted to tobac co In any form, ho had not par taken of strong coffee, nor has he penchant for seeing things up ghovo or below, so his story of what he witnessed must be be lieved. vi Tho theory that what ho saw may have been the exploding re marks of a peeved player on the golf links when he misMed the ball and hit tho ground, the club re hou nd ing u p wa rds and bu rating into small pieces surrounded by smoke coming from the player's timely observations, is suggested by his fellow workers at tho weather station. 10 PORT INVITATION Among tho nYhny letters written In response to the Invlta'tions sent out on the first airmail flight from Med ford's new port, over a week ago, was one received this morn ing by Cole Holmes from George W. Do in in. manager of tho Pa cific coast department, Springfield Mro and Marine Instiranco com pany at San Francisco. That the establishment of this pioneer airport in southern Ore gon should bring Medford and the state Into even greater prominence and develop this city Into "one of tho leading Pacific const cities," wan tho prediction of the promi nent official.
