In June, I9ZS, Harvey S. Fire stone, president of tho Firestone Tiro & Rubber company, mado a special trip from Los Angeles northward nlong the Pacific coast In a special train furnished him by the -"Southern Pacific. While In California, Sir. Firestone remark ed about tho wealth of southern Oregon to members of his party and expressed tho wish that he could see more of It than ho had In the past. To his surprise, when lie reach ed Ashland h was niefby n caval cade of automobiles und invited to ride as Jar as Medford so that he could get a belter picture of con ditions in this territory. So ho and other members of his party proceeded to this city via motor car. The train, meanwhile, fol lowed Its schedule, but when It reached here went onto the siding and wafted for Mr. Firestone. Ilia short automobile trip Im pressed him considerably ami he remarked about the wealth of this territory to his hosts. On reaching Medford he slipped ,avay from his party his destina tion being the Ford dealer's estab lishment. However, he learned from a salesman on duty that the head of the concern was out on business ho he inquired about the localfbh of the' VMrcStbhe represen tative, neglecting to mention that he was Jlarvey S.
