Ikiherty yemerday scored 7,- 784.6 points In the decathlon of the annual A. A. I'. track and field championships. It was the highest score ever made in the United States for the Bruelini; competi tion, lasting almost n full day. The highest number of points previ ously scored was 7774.42 by Klkins of the University of Nebraska in 1927. Uoherty's showing closely approached the world's record of 8Uu3.290, made in 1928 by Vaavo Yrjola of r inland. Doherty, who won the A. A. U. decathlon title last year with 7GU0.62 points, beat out a line field of competitors in the 10 events thelOO meters run,' broad jump, ID pound shot put, 400 meters run, 110 meters hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, Javelin, HOO meters run and high jump. - V.
