the United States, by Amateur Ath
letic union inesurements, is Ken-

?tie club of Detroit.
Ikiherty yemerday scored 7,-
784.6 points In the decathlon of the
annual A. A. I'. track and field
championships. It was the highest
score ever made in the United
States for the Bruelini; competi
tion, lasting almost n full day. The
highest number of points previ
ously scored was 7774.42 by Klkins
of the University of Nebraska in
1927. Uoherty's showing closely
approached the world's record of
8Uu3.290, made in 1928 by Vaavo
Yrjola of r inland.
Doherty, who won the A. A. U.
decathlon title last year with

of competitors in the 10 events
