TRIBUNE, fEDFORP, AT CRATER LAKE FOR BEETLE MEN A phone message received at the Crater National park oj rices here this morning from Anna Springs camp, sent by Martin Palmer and John Beck,, mechanic and tempo rary ranger - respectively of the park, who left here yesterday for tne nark to begin preliminary prep arations for the pine beetle eradi cation campaign work to be per formed there before the summer begins stated that they found con ditions good for briiiKlng out the caterpillar tractor and two big hob sleds from that , point to Union Creek. They expect to bring the tractor and sleds through the deep snow, six feet or more, from Anna Springs camp to Union Creek by Friday so that the sleds can lie loaded wltji supplies; '.and equip ment for use by the first of tho pine beetle destruction crews, who will enter the park that day or the next day. It will be remembered that months ugo it was announced that $9000 had been appropriated for the eradication of this pine bettle pest within the park confines which is destroying so many of the trees, and that the work would be rushed by crews to the totttl pumber of fio or 60 for completion before the hot Hummer weather begins. From Friday on the crew will be augmented gradually until the above total are employed in the work.
