The "Redeem ing Sin" proved a splendid vehicle in the way of enabling the charm ing Dolores Costello, as a cafe dancer, to display her acting ver satility, with Conrad Nagel as her leading man and Georgle Stone as one of the likable band of thugs, thieves and murderers with which she associated. These three pos sess some of the best talking voices in the moving picture world. But don't be frightened. The chnrmlng Dolores, who is seen in j an entlrly new characterisation for, her. Is not so wicked in "The Re deeming Sin," as most of her sin fulness consisting of outbursts of fiery temper in the opening cafe scene, and Implied by her associ ates there. "The Redeeming Sin" bears a faint reminiscence In some respects to tho "Seventh Heaven," in Its underground sewor scenes beneath Paris, and tho presence of clever Georgle Stone he of the pleasing personality and voice who played the "sewer rat" In the former play. Miss Costello display many moods In this play, from tho viva cious and tempestuous cafe singer bent on blood thirsty revenge against the doctor (Conrad Nagel), gradually changing until thorough ly reformed by her love of this same doctor, she becomes tho usu ally beautiful, demure, saintly Do lores with that Indefinable person ality, which has made her one of the greatest actresses In filmland.
