' t The junior-senior, prom was the outstanding social event of the sea son for the younger set. The prom was held on Friday evening at the bull room of the l,lthia 'Springs Hotel. ' A very Interesting program w;ia given during the evening. Miss Kunice Mager was heard -in two vocal numbers, with Miss Marie Moon as her accompanist. June Sherard gave a reading and Penrl Wright danced a sailor clog. Cards and games were provided for those who did not caro for danc ing. A full program of dances filled the evening. The two features were a prize waltz and a balloon waltz. The prize waltz was won by Wanda Schwein and Howard Woodson, while Louise Hanson and John Billings were the fortunate winners of the balloon dance. Tucker family and Grandma Tucker for a few hours Saturday 'before going on to Trail ro spend the week end with Mrs. Flock's parents, Mr. and Mia. Boyd Tucker. ,Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Tucker were guests at the W. D. Jackson home on Towa street Saturday evening, and enjoyed the radio program. Mr. Kelly, who makes his home at the W. G. Tucker place, is spend ing a few days In Salem on a pleas ure trip. A number of people were excited Monday morning when the lookout saw Bear creek almost ready to overflow. Numerous calls were made over the telephone to the caretakers at the Emigrant dnm to know If the dam was about ready to break, but found that a new syphon had been pxit into op-1 eratlon and at a certaip pressure1 this opened and let the water out, causing a large head to. rush down the creek. The dam on Emigrant creek Is full at present and in cures a water supply for the sum mer season. - The Klwanis club members nre discussing Vlth the ladles of the Upper Valley Community club the proposition of whether the club ladies will serve a dinner for the Kiwanlans and their ladies on May 3, at the clubhouse. A committee from the club will take charge of the affair and make the arrange ments. , -. i ' - ' Mrs. H. J. Moore, mother of Mr. Homer Moore, is expected to ar rive soon for a visit with her son and family Bellvlew. j The final arrangements for the school meet to be held at the Jack son county fairgrounds on April 27, are under way. Chapman of Nell creek, in company with her niece, Mrs. Eleanor Perkins and her nephew Darrell Davis, left Fri day for Chlco, where they will spend a week or 10 days, visiting relatives. Miss Leta Walker and her sister, Mrs. Stanley Pagel, who Is visit ing with her family here, attend ed the birthday party given on Thursday evening by Miss Helene nnd Gertrude Biedc. A delicious turkey dinner was enjoyed at the Plaza' Cafe at 6:30 o'clock. Following the dinner the guesjs were taken to the H. C.
