METTFORD MXiTJ TRIBUNE. MEDFORD. OKr.flQyQMOXnAY. .TANTARY 7. 1020. PSGE THREE My New Year's Wish for Mediord Symposium of Expressions By Well-Known Local Ctiizens HOW QUESTION MaSk RECEIVED FUEL An intiTcstinn symposium under t ho title "My New Yi'nr"s AYisli for Medfurrl" was read liy Kev. Kiiymond S. Hoe nt the First Methodist chiirrh Smuliiy evening. Mr. lloen had written to softie twenty-five business mid professional men of the eity asking that they pive expression to their wishes for the new year. Nine responded, the business men playing the game better than the professional men. . The wishes-expressed went into the eultnral and spiritual values in the city's life as well f the prosperity of the com munity in ceneral. The fact that it is a difficult thing to put down on paper in ; concrete form the earnest wishes and good will for his home town that actuate the life of every good citizens, is probably the reason more did not reply to Mr. Keen' request. One busi ness man phoned in his wish which had to do with the organiza tion of Y. C. A. work in Medford. The symposium brought out, among other things, the follow ing desires that lie in the hearts of Medford citizens: II. K. Marsh. Knowing Medford us I do over a period of many years, I dm con fident Hho will acquit herself with c redit in a muterlnl way during the coming year.' My wish for Medford fur 1929 is that her people may enjoy good health, happiness, and a spirit of contentment. Very truly yours, 11. B. MARSH. ls? Tuttlc. Replying to your kind request to express my favorite wish for Med ford for 1929. I am moved to say that n new.sriaper editor wishes for so many things, both for himself and his city, that were I to enu merate all of the things wliien I city by material prosperity. What our city needs more than anything else is a swing toward things .spiritual. I am for anything that will up lift and make better citizens.- Better schools, better churches, more parks and increased interest In music and art. These are the things that realiy count in a community. Ijet us nil hope and pray that Medford will reallzo some of these ideals lit the coming year. Sincerely yours, JOHN C. MANN'. Ir. A. 11. nlgos. Many things may be -wished for Medford and Its citizens.
