The bookstore helves are loaded down with tomes that would impart much bliss, by authors of a high renown, whoso works we can't afford to miss. One must have time to ?arn his bread, to wade around in honest sweat, and so some hooks remain unread, much - to his sorrow and regret. I read five tons of hooks a year, 1 sleep myself In printed lore, but there are moments when I fear I am not wiser than before. I'm read ing volumes when 1 walk. I'm reading others when I sit: I read In haste that I may talk with highbrows of the latest hit. 1 read the high, I read the low, 1 read the greater and tho less and what I rend six weeks ago I have forgotten, I confess. He seemed a man of culture high, a man of knowl edge wide and deep, though he was never known to buy a vol ume from the mtdorn heap.
