Francisco. I William H. Hoggs, former resi dent of Jacksonville, passed away Kt (laker. Ore., August 22, follow-j ing an Illness of more than three I years. He was 05 yenrs of age. Shaw, nnd grandmother, "Ala" Hewlett, have returned to Portland by way of the Oregon Caves and the Roose velt highway. While they were here. Mrs. Shaw accompanied them to Klamath Falls to visit her sis ter. Airs. Hay. This community Is sharing with the rest of the valley in the activ ities of the fruit season. Some of the largest orchards of the valley are found here, and they call fur a large number, of pickers. Alost of the teachers arrived today to begin their work, Aliss Hurt comes from Rerkcloy to take up her duties in the high school; Aliss Jameson returns from her visit to her homo ln Idaho to renew her work In the elementary grades. Miss Hurt and Miss Jameson will board with Airs. Holmes. Aliss Ruth Aitkou of Aled ford will succeed Airs. Hntler in tho cced Mrs. I Hitler in theshrdluhrd Intermediate grades. She will live with Airs. Merrltt, Hrown. Airs, lionham has rented a room of Airs. Florey and will be present to take charge of the uppei grades.' There was a ' considerable number of people present, and all report a very fine tilne. It was the general sentiment that such gatherings ought to be ; held mure often. i Air. and Airs. Mr. and Airs, Atanuel Liedmau and sons. Ned ami Jerry, who have been visiting her father and moth er In Hutte Falls, spent a day or two with Airs. Hewlett before re turning to their home In California. A number of tho people from Eagle Point attended church in Aledford to hear Leonard lirown, who preached here for a time bo fore be graduated from the sem inary. After church these people continued to the Ashland park rind enjoyed a picnic (tinner together. The full program of church serv- ices will be resumed In the church I ou next Sunday.
