A constructive plan for secur ing the much-needed cannery in .Medford for the disposal of the fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers, and ttie further encouraging the development of small acreage into productive gar dens throughout the valley, was outlined by Vtrnon Vawter before ihe Realty Board this noon at Hotel Holland. The local banker suggested the preparation of a complete and detailed prospectus of Buch pro duction In southern Oregon, to gether with a description of other conditions and possibilities of the valley, by a committee 'composed of members of the realty board, the chamber of commerce and other service groups. Supple menting this, he suggested a com-1 plete survey of the largest can nery concerns In the United States, and finally a letter cam paign to the large concerns, call ing their attention to the possi-, hi lit It's of the valley. Each cannery, according to this! scheme, would be mailed a copy 1 of the prospectus for their con-1 slderation. Mr, Vawter stressed 1 the value of the cultivation of the 1 productive acreage now going to waste throughout the valley and showed the possibility of a de- velopment that would bring un told wealth and prosperity Into this section oi the country. Immediate action was taken on the suggestion, by a unanimous I expression of approval on the j part of the realty board mem bers, president Leverette appoint- j ru uii iiiuunuiai jviiiiiiiivc iv meet with -the chamber of com merce and local service groups and present the idea to them. Corn, chairman of that committee. The signs pointing out the drivo will be up the first of the week, and j a special radio concert announc ing the opening will be broad cast over K.MED, the Mail Tribune-Virgin station next Friday night.
