The Eagle point Irrigation dis

nnd after a general discussion of
the district's affairs, a resolution
was passed, asking the Stat

bondholder on a refinancing prop
osition, under the 1927 law, which
provides a fixed liability for each
land owner for his portion of
tho debt and extends the date of
the maturity of tho bonds.
This action was taken, owing
to default in payment of bonds,
which became due January l,

A constructive plan for secur
ing the much-needed cannery in
.Medford for the disposal of the
fruits and vegetables grown by
local farmers, and ttie further
encouraging the development of
small acreage into productive gar
dens throughout the valley, was
outlined by Vtrnon Vawter before
ihe Realty Board this noon at
Hotel Holland.
The local banker suggested the
preparation of a complete and
detailed prospectus of Buch pro
duction In southern Oregon, to
gether with a description of other
conditions and possibilities of the
valley, by a committee 'composed
of members of the realty board,
the chamber of commerce and
other service groups. Supple
menting this, he suggested a com-1
plete survey of the largest can
nery concerns In the United
States, and finally a letter cam
paign to the large concerns, call
ing their attention to the possi-,
hi lit It's of the valley.
Each cannery, according to this!
scheme, would be mailed a copy 1
of the prospectus for their con-1
slderation. Mr, Vawter stressed 1
the value of the cultivation of the 1
productive acreage now going to
waste throughout the valley and
showed the possibility of a de-
velopment that would bring un
told wealth and prosperity Into
this section oi the country.
Immediate action was taken on
the suggestion, by a unanimous I
expression of approval on the j
part of the realty board mem
bers, president Leverette appoint- j
ru uii iiiuunuiai jviiiiiiiivc iv
meet with -the chamber of com
merce and local service groups
and present the idea to them.
The hour scenic, developed by
the local realty board for the
benefit of transient tourists pass
ing through Medford during the
summer, will be opened next Fri
day, according to E. C. Corn,
chairman of that committee. The
signs pointing out the drivo will
be up the first of the week, and j
a special radio concert announc
ing the opening will be broad
cast over K.MED, the Mail Tribune-Virgin
station next Friday
night.
Local real estate dealers from
now on must have maintained an
office In the city six months be
fore they are eligible to become
a member of the board, according
to an amendment added today to
the bylaws of tho constitution,
regarding membership. A further
amendment raised the present
membership fee of $ 10 a year
to $25.-'
