TO THE PUBLIC Statements (itiinj; iirouiul the city that house.liolders wlio either do not hnvc gnrbngc or dispose of it by burn ing or other siinitnry methods, are compelled by city ordi nance to have their Kiirbaffc collected by the new gar bage company and pay them $1.00 a month and provide n can for yarbnge; that tho home owners themselves can not take their own garbage to the city dump; that cither the city has increased or authorized the new garbage company to increase the charges for collecting garbage, are so palpably untrue that we shall take no notice of them, except to state, that there lias been no change in the charges for collecting garbage and that, with the ex ception of a few added provisions for protection of the city, the present garbage contract is ylmost identical with those that have been in force for tho last six or eight years. Statements occasionally hoard to the effect thnt the city has given an exclusive contract or monopoly to the new garbage company, but did not to the former garbage people, are also untrue; nil of the garbage contracts made by the city the last six or eight years have been exclusive contracts and have, nil of them, included within their terms garbage and offal from hotels and restaurants, and there has been no change in regard to hotels and restau rants. Anyone having complaint either regarding service or charges for collecting garbage is requested to take the mutter up with Mr. L. W. Phillips, manager of tho new garbage company, at his office at Jarmin & AVoods' drug store, where he ciin be found between the hours of 9 and 11 a. in., and in ense satisfactory adjustment cannot be made, are requested to notify the City Hecorder in writ ing in order that the city may make proper investigation.
