The road bond election held In this district Monday for the purpose of voting a levy for road work, was over whelmlngly defeated. Whether this was the wisest thing to de we cannot say, but owimr to the results of past I road bond elections most of our tax payers had their minds made up too Btrongly to he altered by arguments or explanations. The Civic Improvement club will serve supper at tho dance in- Kin raid's hall next Saturday night, November 21. ' Mr. Klnciiid built an, addition to liis new dance hall this week. The old sig nboard which hns stood between I-oy's house and the highway was torn down and moved away this week. This is a great Improvement in the looks of that lot. j 1. T. Stanley anil Mrs. Jfanscom had planned a very: nice program of music by the school! and other good things which werej all well rendered und enjoyed by a; large attendance. Dr. (leory gnve u fine talk on prevention of dis ease and Miss Weld man sang a sulo. It was, voted to hold the ba zaar on December 4 at the grange hall. The committees reported lots of work being done lo uh every thing ready by that tie. Several Indies met at Mrs. Crot er'a and sewed Wednesday. There Is still quite a lot of sewing tip do for the bazaar. Miss Brewster met with sex'errfl ladies of Eagle point last Tuesday and gave them quite a lot of help with their winter millinery prob lem. The next meeting will be De cember 8 and It Is hoped more ladles will take advantage of Miss Brew ster's excellent help in this line. Wm. Hherwood returned from Sulem last week. .Mrs. Green has gone to Los Angeles. MISSOURI FLAT There him been a slight epidemic of the grippe in the community during the past week. Those on the sick list me: Mrs. Gray and daughter, Dollie; Mrs. Cook and daughter, Kflther. A new pupil, Holunrf Pope, came to school Monday, making the enrollment number 18. Mr. and Mrs. Jamos Lindsley of Wlldorvllle attended tho community dance Saturday n!ht and spent Suu day visiting at the Cook homo. MrB. Lindsley is a former tuncher of the Missouri Klat school. Miss Ktta Miller hecame seriously ill Monday and was taken to the doc tor Tuesday to have some X-ray pic tures taken. Zella Gray was absent from BChool ono afternoon this weok on account of poison oak. Her eye wus almoBt swollen shut but sho is recovering rapidly. Mr. and Mrs. Schwarger spent Wed nesday shopping In Grants Pass. Miss ICllzabeth liuir, rural super visor of Jackson county, was a visitor at the school Thursday. She spoke to the children about' "Hook Week" und the ndvantuges obtained through the reading of good hooks. She was quite pleased to hear thut tho chil dren have organized a tooth brush brigade.
