Secretary Jardine today announced his approval of a national system of roads selected by the Joint board on inter-state highways to be known us United States highways. Tho road system includes 75,884 miles of highway, each route of which has bene designated by number, and the secretary's approval of the joint board's plan has been forwurded to the American' Association of State Highway Officials, meeting in Detroit this week. The secretary's approval of the board's highway plan brings to a close wor kof tho 24 state and national highway officials appoited last March by Secretary Gore to draft a highway plan. The board's report provides for tho marking of the selected high ways with standard direction and warning signs. In a letter to Thomas Tf.
