annual parade of legionnaires. Ar

swarming with former service men
and the weather as disagreeable as It
freiiiently was in France.
A cold delving rain reckoned to
put a damper un the day's activi
ties as the sky was so overcast that
there, was slight prospect of a let
up In the downpour.
The president and Mrs. Coolldge
were greeted at Cnhrn station by
James A. Drain, national commander
of the American Legion, whose wife
had come from Washington on the
presidential train. Governor Mc.Mul
len of Nebraska. Mayor Dahlman of
Omaha nnd a score of prominent
citlxens and legion officials. Hun
dreds of former service men Jam
med the train shed and station, and
as tho president passed they broke
into cheers.
From tho Flat inn Mr. and Mrs.
Coolldge were taken to the home of
Walter Head, Omaha banker, who
at one time was president of the
American Hankers association. Al
though thoy hud been aboard the
train nearly forty hours, neither ap
peared fatigued. They smiled ack
nowledgements to cheers, their en
thusiasm at being in tho midst of
a patriotic deomstration apparently
undiminished by the nasty weather.

the legion, Mr. Coolldge traveled
farther from Washington than at
any time since entering the White
Mouse nnd through sections of the
country ho had not visited as chief
executive.
He Is the first president to honor
the American I.eiou with his pres
ence at its annual convention, al

the Kansas City ' gathering several
years ago.
In ndditton to delivering n speech
before the convention, the president,
before, leaving late today for Wash
ington, planned to attend a lunch
eon nt the" Omaha club, tendered him
by prominent citizens and legion of
ficials and to review the afternoon
parade of American Keg ion mem
bers. Arrangements had been made
for him to ride at tho head of the
procession as far as tho reviewing
stand.

yesterday by George Kress, photog
rapher for the highway department,
(indicates the discovery of a.skeleton
of a prehistoric man of gigantic size.
A nearly complete innominate bone,
l be ball joint of a femur together
with about a foot of the shank nnd
stub of n canine tooth 4 inches
long were iii the box. Kress said he
also found vertebrae measuring ten
inches long.
The pelvic bone Is something over
a foot wide ami seven or eight inches
thick. The spongy process is clearly
apparent, but the entire mass Is
turned to stone. The leg Joint is 6 K-
Inches in diameter and the shank
three inches thick. Thd canine tooth
Is shaped to Indicate the originaj
length as six inches to the point
which is broken off. J
The innominate bone in man com
bines several bones of the lower ani
mals completing the pelvic arch and
the fact that this specimen is single
indicates human origin. ;
The fragments were found near
Colville on the way to Yosemlte
just n cross the state- line.
