OREGON, FlilDAY, JULY 21, 1925 NO. 106 -1 4- II EMS OF INTEREST FR 1 HE ROGUE RIVER VALLEY MM (M E ASHLAND, July 24. On and after the 25th, (tomorrow) the city of Ash . land Is districted for Irrigation and sprinkling purposes, the dividing line la Iho nnulAvnril mid Afnlrt at foot Th a upper district will be alowed to ue i f delighted with Ashland and the water Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 5 a. m. until 10 a. ni. and from 5 p. m. until 10 p. m. even ings. Sunday from 5 a. m. to 10 a. m. The same hours prevail in the lower district on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, except that on Sunday the water Is used in the evenings from fi until 10. This does not apply to those who are metered, or to those under the 'ditch from the Talent Irrigation com pany.' From a report, it Is learned that the -consumption of . water has doubled In Ashland In the last ten years. The Increased usage Is attribu table, to the "almost universal use of household conveniences. The figures show that ther are 40,000 gallons of water used 1y ach person In Ashland b per year, around 100 gallons a da, which are rather astonishing figures. There is plenty of water, it is stated, but to Insure these the condition ob taining the rest of the summer, these regulations were made. t . Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Sayles have been , entertaining Mr. Sayles' niece, Mrs. C. L. Bent of San Francisco, who has been here for the past three weeks. . During the time of her stay, there have been many outings and pleasant trips arranged for her, among them the ldelightful visit to Crater Lake. Mrs. - Bent is the wife of the pastor o fthe First Methodist church of Han Francisco, She has enjoyed her vlBlt In Ashland very much, Mrs. Bent leaves Friday for her California home, Mrs. It. K. It all looked very romantic, but the on ' lookers were more than ever convinced : that the labor saving, time saving de vices of modern America were more i satisfactory to the Individual. How ; ever the way of washing in the differ ent countries was not the only thing to be learned from the slides. They furnished a wonderful opportunity to teach other things than Just tho modus operandi of cleaning clothes. At today's assembly the eighth grade commencement for a number occurs. An Interesting program is promised. Today closes a must suc cessful summer term, with the largest attendance In Its hlstor yslnco Its es tablishment In Ashland.
