SWAMPSCOTT, Mass.. . July , 2. (A. P.) President Coolidge is reach ing the conclusion that ti president, regnrdleBH of whore lie goes cannot evade the cares of his office. Coming to the seashore for relief from the enervating heat of Washington, the president is finding that although removed from he seat of govern ment, there are problems to plague a vacationist. Mr. Coolidge was confronted today with several issues, still somewhat aloof, but never-the-less holding vex atious probabilities. The Ku Klux Klan controversy threatens to take a new Uirn as a result of the announced intention of the organization to invite the presi dent to review its pnrade and nd dre'ss its ' members " in Washington early In August. No formnl invita tion has yet been received but it is considered unlikely -here that thei president will be able to accept, par-! tloularly as. he has indicated that! he 'Still will be summering here at the time. i The announcement that an invI- tat Ion would be extended, however, I 'has brought communications to Mr. Coolidge from a number of Indi viduals and organizations opposed to the Klan, urging him to emphati cally decline and, In some instances, appealing to him to do something to prevent the holding of the Wash ington meeting. . , Another cloud on the horizon Is the possibility of a strike between anthracite operators nnd miners over a. new wage scale. The president Is watching developments with interest, chiefly through the newspapers, but nothing has been said or done here Indicating what he will do if a crisis arises.
