The board went into session at ' 10:30 reviewing the briefs filed by j both colleges and also the steno-, graphic notes of verbal remarks by representatives of both institutions. No faculty members of either insti tution attended the session, which was strictly a conference between the board members on their findings from study of the briefs and the min utes of the earlier meeting. Dr. C. J. Smith, chairman, said at the opening of the meeting that a final decision may not be given, as further lines for examination may be brought up by members of the board at tho conference. t The charges of duplication of courses were filed against the Agri cultural college by the university, the lines Involved being commerce, jour nalism, music, education and liberal ai'ts. In its brief in reply, the college charged tho university with duplica tion of co u rsps in commerce which had previously been adjudicated to the agricultural institution. The synod last .year voted to substi tute "hades" f-r "bell ' in ( tic apostles' creed, as well as to change "holy ghost" to "holy spirit." Both changes were made to conform to the Amer ican standard version of the! Bible, which has been adopted as more ac curate than the King James transla tion. The council announced that the substitution did not Imply a repudia tion of the doctrine of the existence of hell, but reluted only to the state of Christ following his crucifixion and death.
