Owing to cireuniHtanees and p retting need of our principal now, It being near the close of school, ho was unable to leave for his home, which circumstance makes his sorrow doubly hard to bear. The high school will give a play Friday evening entitled "Poor Father." The participators have1 been some what handicapped by their coach, be ing unable to attend some of the night practice, but It Is -believed the play will be well worth the price of the tickets anyway. The blight 'cur, which wan administered in several of our orchards last summer by an agent of a California concern, has shown no results of any benefit whatever. Mr. and Mrs. F. K. Stewart of Lob Angeles were pleasant visitors at the Day home this week. Mr. Stewart Is a brother of Mrs. K, H, Day. Several, of our citizens attended the Odil Fellows ntate encampment at Ashland this week. Considerable acreage has been plant ed to corn and sudan In our district this spring and the warm showers give promies of good crops for both. As Sams Valley has produced some record crops of sudan in unfavorable seasons this year's crop should be n bu mper. Some recent Portland visitors In the valley were Mr. and Mrs. It. U. Is Jackson county school day, which provides graduat ing exercises for the eighth grade graduates from all schools. Friday. May 2!th. is the date this year and Ashland Is to be tho host, opening her chautnuqtia building and her Lithla park to the county for tho day. The graduating program begins at 10 n. ni., at the Chautauqua build ing. The address of the morning will bo given by Dr. U. O. Dullach of O. A. C.. after which diplomas will bo presented to tho graduates of the year, some 300 In number. livery ono Is invited to bping and enjoy picnic Uuu-hes in tho park. Tho county demonstration agent, Miss Ada Brewster, will meet with the ladles of Central Point and vicinity next Wednesday afternoon, the 27tU. at the home of Mrs. It. II. l'axson. As the month of May has been desig nated as homo making month, the meeting next Wednesday will be given over to the subject of labor saving devices, it is Miss Brewster's wish that each lady come prepared to give a Bbort talk describing any labor-saving device which she has found to be a means of eliminating strenuous housework. Miss Brewster would also like to have the ladles express their wishes as to tho con tinuation of her meetings In this community and for this reason, as well as the fact that much benefit will be derived from the talks to be given, she desires that the atten dance be as largo as possible. Grimes and Murrell Kindle have each purchased new Oldsmo bile cars. The federal bank examiners paid one of their regular visits to the Central Point State Bank last Sat urday and, as usual, found the bank in very good condition. Mr. Jsaac son, president of the bank, was highly complimented upon the good management and efficiency shown, which have been and are the factors of the success of this institution. The directors of the bank are tho Messrs. J. O. Isaacson, W. J. Freeman, Vic tor Bursell and W. C. Leevor. On Monday, tho lKth. a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Musty. James .McDowell has recently pur chased the building in which Is lo cated his shoe shop, from J. H. Gay M. F. Hubbard and W. II. Case beer of Klamath Falls are visiting hero this week with their respective families. While working on tho Central Point mill building Monday, which is being partly taken down. 13. K. Morton full a distance of about lit feet when the beam which was sup porting him, gave way. Fortunately, no serious Injuries ' resulted, although Mr.. Morton was, unconscious for throe hours following the accident and has been confined to his bed since with severe cuts and brulnes. Last Sunday's Ideal weather lured many local people to various fishing and pirn icing haunts. Among those who were out were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jones and Miss Pauline Terrill and Mr. Horace Terrill who spent the day at Union creek.
