I fill; ed up on milk, too, folks. Then came some more hnrd walking. I walked . about seven miles only to be picked j up by a minister and he save me a complete lecture on God. Arriving at Canby, Ore., I washed and spcuced up a bit and started out on the highway and after I had accomplished about five miles, I was nearly, run over by a very large truck. The truck'driver was scared and I says, well here's where I ride. I told him he would have to ride me aa I had turned over my ankle. Well I managed to make Salem, Ore. Folks, let me tell you that the Oregon folks are real kind and liberal. I am an easterner and 1 never was treated finer than junt by Oregon people. I am not a hobo. I am a youngman trying to make my way across tho country. I had walked nbout five miles when' I was lifted by a New York traveling salesman. We talked on Med ford and so forth, and his Idea was that Medford was to be one of the leading towns some day. Arriving at Eugene I went to the V. M. 'C.'A., jumped in the tank and had n BWlm.artd went to bed all in. Arising 'at- 6 the next morning, ' I proceeded to"he nearest waffle house. After devouring about six waffles and seven eggs and about ten cups of cof fee I proceeded out the highway. 1 had walked about six miles when a fel low and a couple of horses came along, lie a.sked me my rouje. At Toncala I was picked up by a General Electric man, his wife and a bull dog. I took a good look at the bull dog first.
