this week Friday and Saturday. The

We find now that so many boys are
coming -und the lime Is so short that
we have to maku this appeal to the
citizens of Medford to help the local
hoys in providing the necessary hous
ing accomnaodations We expect some
two hundred boys In addition to the
regular delegates ami there are
ntnety-slx of those. The additional
ones mako up the patrols, drum corps
and bunds. We have to provide
rooms for Friday and Saturday nights
and breakfiiNt for Saturday and Sun
day morning. These visitors who are
depending on our good hospitality ure
young men between the ages of six
teen and twenty -one. cum ing from
twenty-four Oregon cities. They will
MHtn enter our commercial, social,
educational. Judicial, professional and
other channels of activities In Oregon,
:md the impression we as citizens of
Medford make on them at this time,
will be remembered as long as they
ilve. This Is an opportunity for us to
show our hospitality.

in this spirit we have helped. But
we have never forgotten that there
was u limit beyond which wo could
not go.
"The full measure of American
helpfulness can he obtained only
when the American people are as
sured that the time for destructive
methods anil policies has passed and
that the time for peaceful upbuilding
has come. They, are asking them
selves (f that time has In fnct nr
rived. And that question they can
not today answer. The answer must
be given to them. It must come
from the peoples of Kurope, who
alone can make the decision.

that a peace may soon be reached
not a peace of mere contrivance and
arrangement, bused primarily on
force, for that would merely be the
prelude to another war, but a peace
which contains the elements of per
manency u peace which will deserve
and receive the moral support of
mankind because it Is Just.

can come in only one way. It must
be based upon the assumption of good
faith by all who participate In it."
