Threo million feet to the quarter section in the heavy stunils is not unusual, and some forty-acre tracts run sb high as two and one half million feet. Most of the county's timber lies east and north of Trail' and Butte Falls In tho northeastern quarter of the county. This block has only started movlnp through Medford, at the rate of fifty million feet an nually. According to foresters' esti mates, with prouer cutting regula tions and protection, one hundred and fifty million feet, or about three times that planned for 1925, can be cut every year from now to eternity. A regulated cut based on tho growth moans a perpetunl lumber Industry and will also tuko caro of stream regulation, which Is no Bmall factor in the development through irrigation and water needs of count agriculture and city growth.
