Dr. Gilbert was assigned to the ocal pastorate last fall, which he for- nerly occupied, from Salem, Oregon, ind was stricken with his last illnens uhi winter. He wns one of the lead rs of Oregop Methodism, nnd for five rears was district superintendent of he Salem district of the Oregon con 'erence,' lie had been a resident of his state for 12 years. Dr. Gilbert was born in Canada, nd when two years old his parents noved to Iowa, where he was raised. lo graduated from the Divinity Instl- uto of Northwestern university and ie!d pulpits in Iowa for years, com- ng west in 1913. Sheurer wns one thut will linger long in the hearts of those able to force their way into the crowded auditorium. The Shearers have been here before on several oc casions, but the new program wits pronounced by those who have heard them as the finest yet given. They seem to have the faculty of produc ing music that is not only delightful to hear, but . also that which has definite interest and educational value. The entertaining manner la which these noted musicians present their programs is a feature of the concert and uf fords interest to those members of tho audience who are not musicians, but are music lovers.
