GOES TO THE JURY Arguments in the civil suit of the American Soda Fountain company of Hoston, lla3!., against the Mcdford Grocery company wcro made in the circuit court this morning, nnd the case which lias dragged over three days, and hard fought throughout will go to the jury this afternoon. Final witnesses for botli sides, gave testimony pro and con, on the quality, consistency, flavor, color, and adapta bility to climatic conditions of the plaintiffs syrjips. The caso hinged on the allegation hat the syrup was not up to standard. The Markets Juno Eurhart, well known nurso, while driving to her homo on tho Pacific highway, near tho southern Vity limits Wednesday, saw two men standing in the road, with their hands in the -air, and giving other distress signals of tho autolst. Miss Earhart slowed down and one of tho men said: "O, it Is a woman!" They then explained that they had been forced to stop their car, on ac count of engino trouble nnd pointed to a largo car. parked on the side of the road. Miss Enrhnrt drove to her homo, and watohed. further developments. In a few moments a largo car ap proached, and tho two men endeavor ed to stop it with signals, but tho car only drove, faster. A second "car ap proached, and tho driver. , employed the same tactics. After tho second car . passed, the two men entered their own and drove south at a high rate of speed, without any signs of tho engino trouble they told about. The incidents have nil tho earmarks of an attempted hold-up. Bishop'3 Visit Deferred. ItiKhop Sumner, who was to havo vis ited St. Mark's Episcopal church on Sunday, has been prevented from keep ing the engagement.
