MUST WE TX THE MIDST of the Teapot J- than ever to arouse any public and yet an inconspicuous item in effect 111011 the history of our country than the present political up heaval in Washington. This item merely stated that American war ships had been ordered to remain in Mexican waters. While this announcement may lead to no sensational developments, it emphasizes the fact that the De La Ifuerta revolution is not dwindling as rapidly as some people imag ined it would and that Uncle Sam, being committed to Obregon's sup port, may at no distant date, have another little war on his hands. Imagine what would have happened, for example, if the Cruiser Tacoma, instead of striking the mine, with the loss of its captain 'Remember the Maine' incident would have been immediately ere bted. And such an eventuality is not at all improbable. In spite of Sec retary Hughes warning, there is no doubt that many Mexican har bors on the East coast have been mined by De La Iluerta. As long as American warships remain there, the danger of contact with one of them, can't very well be avoided. This does not mean the present administration has blundered in ;ts recognition and support of Obregon. The present government in Mexico is the best government that country has had in many years, and its retention is necessary for the welfare of Mexico and the con tinuation of peace beyond the Rio Cirande. The American govern ment, moreover, has been entirely within its rights, from the stand point of international law. Hut facts, nevertheless, are farts. And there is no fact more cer tain in Mexico, than that where one revolution is put down, ten are not. The Mexican temperament abhors stability, as Nature abhors a vacuum. So unless there is a marked and fairly immediate change in the situation, t'nele Sam will be forced either to take t lie tarpaulins from the gun muzzles or to confess defeat and at least a diplomatic humiliation. -"j?!' The realities of the situation, therefore, might well be referred to Mr. Hok for his serious consideration. AN AUTHORITATIVE OPINION. Bunkers, that cost $250 fell over almost' first load and never re built, but new lumber was brought in and more graft distributed. Now. let's move the courthouse to Medford if we have to shake the bottom out of hell to do it. We must see to it that we elect a jndge and commissioner who are -with us. Not a single person on this side of river, so far as J .can learn, was in favor of the paving. - Some Ruch farmers told me yester day, that they didn't want the pave ment.
