mantling the Pharaoh Tutenkhamun
golden shrines was resumed today
after the usual weekly holiday. A
cornice of the outer casket having
been gotten out of the way, Howard
Carter, Hi charge of tho excavation
work, was able to hoist up and re
move to tho antechamber ono of the
two sections of the roofer of the sec
ond shrine. The Inside was found
to be elaborately decorated with car
touches and figures of tho king, and
also with a figure with wings and u
human head.
Tho removal of half of the second
roof enabled a bettor view than has
been previously possible to be obtain
ed of the casket, the gold of which Is
more brilliant than any of the others.
