OBITUARY HESSELGRAVE Mrs. Mary Hes selgrave passed away at her home In j Central Point Friday. Nov. 30 at the age of 71 years, one month and days. She was born in Cornwall. England. Oct. 2, 15. eominR to the United States when about seven ypars old. The family lived In Illinois a fw years but most of her life was spent In Iowa before coming to Oregon 32 years ago. In all these years Central Point has been her home, where ehe has a hqst of friends. She had been a member of the Methodist church since childhood. She leaves two sons and one daughter. Mrs. Effie B. OUTING t The threatening skies did not dampen the ardor of the scouts who gathered yesterday morning for the t:rst general outing of the season. A KCKd representation from the tro-s was on hand with three scout masters to direct the, expedition. The Bncer tafnty of the weather delayed the; start nearly two hour, but the time was pt-cfltably utilized in placing the Christmas sel posters' through the business district. As the day bright- ' eaed the spirits of the scouts re-j sponded and a .very Interesting and profitable day was enjoyed.,, ;( t i A brief snow storm about noon while- in- the foothills added to the, interest of the trip.- Tae - boy en-j circled Roxy Ann from the east to the west rklge" well up on the slopes of the hill. A number of featur-s alto gether unexpected added zest " to the occasion. An orchardist at the edge of the foothills supplied the boys with a box of fine large apples. On the re turn trip the coal mine was visited and the genial miner gave an instruc tive account of the formation of the carboniferous atratas of the coal and the oil and dye bearing ore. He also made demonstrations showing how the till and dyes were .extracted. Altogether it was a very good first trip and the boys stood It in fine1 shape. Being well shod is always a necessity for hiking as a few of the lads now know. There were no caa uaUtes. though a well eoulcped. first aid kit was carried as is always done and is often used for minor needs. riome tree specimens and a number of fine geology specimens were brought in for the scout collection. The troops are all getting under way in their training. Philip Loup, berry has been assigned as permanent scout master of Troop No. 3 which' U attached at the Baptist church. Air. Bernard Shaw has been secured. 'by Rev. Black to serve as scout master of Troop l which Is attached to the Catholic church. Mr. Shaw Is "re cently from Texas and has had ex perience In boys activities. Troop No. 1 has Its heud quarters at the Catholic Boys' club near their church and Is meeting twice a week regu larly. Troops 4 and 5 attached at the Presbyterian church are planning to meet twice weekly for special train ing. Among the scouts already qual ified ceremonial teams are being formed. Troops 2. 3 and 7 will meet tonight at the Main Street Methodist church.
