" J ' V I THE MEANING OF EASTER The meaning of Easter and its message of joy, the" revival of hope and the bouyant renewal of our aspiration conic to an old and tired world and pervade onr lives even as thev springtide floods and fills the meadows with her everlasting miracle. ,-. ; ' By an irrisistible human impulse, we seek out our finest and most fnshionable raiment, and that impulse is parallel to the nat ural processes in the wjirkj about ns. , If the earth can put off her drab habiliments of winter and forget the somber, sunless hours, so can the children of earth. .' In "every life today there may be a ' resurrection from the dead.. In every 'life old things may be dis carded. He has not caught the spirit of the festal celebration who is not stirred to a nenewal and is not moved to forsake the dark ness and give welcome to the light. It is more than a church festival. Believer and unbeliever to gether share the influences of the day. In each of us, whatever creed we formally profess there dwells the feeling that the day betokens. It is the assurance that life is worth the living ami that love can never lose its own. We stand today not at the brink of a tomb, but on the threshold of thiseternal life and of this .love, immortal. . The Way Home, Is tho Way 'of the Cross. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rahboni, which is to say, Master. r St; John, 20:11-16. "ALIVE UNTO GOD." Not the future state of the soul, lint is present condition is the vital thing. Men are bidden not to be anxious about the mor row and that may include the eternal morrow since "the mor row shall take thought for the things of itself." And all will be well with man, as with the "fowls of the air'' and "the. lilies of the field," if he, as they do, performs the functions ordained for him, and is loyal to the true law of his being. Human souls are to "be dead indeed unto sin" in order that he may be "alive unto (iod." If they are thus alive their immortality is assured.
