Hased on the text, "The Spirit and
the Drlde Say Come," Dr. S. J. Reld
last evening at the First Baptist
church said the natural tendency of
man Is to go away from Cod, and not
to come to Him. The world will never
be saved till Christians say to the
"unsaved, come t9 Jesus. Christians
seem to have dumb devils In them.
Until you can say to the man who has
no religion, come, there Is nothing to
your religion. Love can only show
itself In giving. When God loves Ha
says take. What Is It that stands be
tween man and God? It Is sin, but it
need not stand there.
We are always trying to put the
world right, and then It breaks out in
iftbthet place. If we had no religion
the country would go to hell. I be
lieve that the missionary or a minis
ter means more to this country than
any institution.
The evangelist closed his stirring
message, which appealed to the hearts
of his hearers by telling the story of a
boy who had become so bad that the
father ; had to send him away from
home' telling him not to return. When
in his wanderings the boy became sick
the father went to him and placed a
1 letter under his pillow in which ho
r told him when able to return home.
The boy did so but with much hesi
tancy. Entering his former home he
expected the father to reprimand him
for hlspast sins, but nothing was said.
Doys passed and nothing was said of
the past, and then it was that the boy
saw that his father would never refer
to his past and it completely won him
over to the father,,seeing how great a
father he had. So, said the speaker, is
the way God the Father treats the
sinner: When he comes God never
refers to his past, but treats him as if
he had never sinned. An appeal was
made for the unconverted to come to
God at the close of the service, which
was the best attended one of the
week. Each evening the numbers are
growing.. . .
The third address on the Pilgrim's
Progress series illustrated with the
stcreopticon was given as a prelude to
the sermon, which was enjoyed by
everybody. The community is missing
much in not hearing Dr. Reld In these
special pre-Easter service, which will
culminate one week from Sunday with
a great cantata by the choir and or
chesira. ' "'
Tragedy at Sen.
NEW YORK, March 22. One man
was drowned when the crew of the
Kinking Italian freighter Olulla was
being rescued at sen yesterday by the
steamship Presidente Wilson, wire
less dispatches to the local agents of
the line said today.

dents of the lieilfoid High School are
presenting the musical comedy "The
Oypsy Hover" the evening of April
4th. at the Page Theatre.
The curtain will rise at 8 o'clock
sharp, on a picturesque scene laid in
a gypsy rump. .Mr. Tom Swem has
charge of the stuge setting, which In
sures the uudienco that there Is a
surprise in store for them.
The high school orchestra will fur
nish the music for the operetta as
sisted by Wm. Campbell and they
are working to make their part of the
evening's entertainment a success.
Miss Maurlne Carroll and Mrs-. Olie
Oglo who so efficiently assisted the
high school In producing "Miss
Cherryblossom" last year are as
sisting again this year. Miss Carroll
has charge of the costuming and Mrs.
Oule the dancing.
The music throughout the oper
etta, is catchy and ranks hiuh in the
light opera class. The dialogue i
interesting and Is relieved by several
clever comedy scenes.
A chorus of tiny gypsies under
Miss Kragg from Washington school
will add a touch to the gypsy sceno
of Act 1.

bituminous coal exports. The com
merce department reported today 52

Hughes as the quartet who carry the
story. It makes a good picture, mov
ing with speed and crammed with
action.
"Kick In," as most theatergoers
know, Is the story of a one-tlmo
burglar who tlocidos to go straight,
but at the same time Is loyal to his
friends In ciookdom.
Lytell's successes seom Inovltalily
to bo won as engaging and really
admirable crooks. Ho has another
such role here, and plays it well. Miss
Compson Is pretty and capable, and
Miss McAvoy docs a good bit of work
as tho very young wife. Hughes plays
boyishly and well, and the supporting
cast. Including Mayme Kolso, Waiter
Long and Clarcnco liurton, is good.
