The calls for the appointment of committees on races, publicity, track and grounds, concessions and ticket seller and gatemen. Tho tentative outlino for races covers purses amounting to $3500 plus the entry fees, which will bring tho total up to some ffiOOO for two davs racing. A great many inquiries . have already been received as to what the purses will be, length of races and other details so that the : directors feel confident that the best drivers on tho coast will be attracted i here. The directors ordered an apptica- - tlon being made for membership in the North Pacific Fair and llacing associations. It was decided that two harness races bo held each day dur ing the fair next fall and they appro priated $350 for each race, making u total of $2800 offered. In addition to. the 180 trees that reto be planted on the fair grounds xt- month, the' forest service has offered to secure native trees and shrubs to fill in on tho landscaping , planned. Collins returned lust night from tha Willamette valley whore ho has been for several days purchasing some puro bred livestock, which are to be used as foundation Btock on tho Meadowbroolc ranch at Eagle Point, which ho and Dr. Era mens recently purchasod from Fred Pelouzo. The shipment, which consists of a carload, is expected to arrive Tuesday or Wednesday In charge of O. A. Mack, superintendent of the ranch. The shipment consists of two regis tered pure bred Percheron mares, purchased of A. C. Ruby, tho well known breeder of Portland. This team was used by Mr. Ruby as tho lead team on a six horse hitch at the Pacific 'International, Rnd one of the team was grand champion for four ; years. Each horse weighs closoto a ton and are perfect specimens of , tho heavy draft type. I In the shipment there aro also twelve head of puro bred registered i -Jersey cows, five of which wero pnr- chased from the Itfijrsdorf herd and the balnnco from The Johahson Tierdj,' both of whom aro leading breeders of Jersey cattle in the northwest. There seems to be a flue epidemic on Thompson creek as there has been several people sick and ono or two sick nt this writing. Frank Kendall came out from Stenmboat on Tuesday, stayed nil night with Fred Hoffman, returned to his home on Wednesday. John nnd Marion Hlmrham motored' to Medford on Wednesday of thl week. That ho' musical program given at tho Christian church Sunday night, was highly appreciated was evidenced by tho crowded house nnd the enthusiasm manifested, many of those participating being required to respond to hearty encores. The vocal-selections wero by Mrs. Harry Scoilgarl,- the mixed quartette, consisting of 'Miss Stelner, Mrs. Scougall. J. V' Klikpatrlck and D. E. Millard ana the regular church qtiar. tetto, composed of Harry Scougoll, Ralph Waldron, J. N. KIrkpatrick and D. E. Millard. Mrs! Shockley gave a beautiful cornet solo and the orchestra of nine Pieces rendered several of their best selections.. This orchestra is a big drawing card of the church services every Sunday night. A special feature was the piano sketches by "Hob" . Edwards. Ho played several popular selections, Im provising his own variations, which were received by hearty applause.
