'AUOUST 2.. 1!)2'2 PACE THREE Frankie Webb of Portlund and Johnny Carlson of Gold 11111 fought an eight round draw at the smoker of the Medford Athletic club last .night, before a fair sized crowd. One of the judses gave the fracas to Carl son, and the other two called it a draw, which was a fair and just de cision. Some of the Carlson udher ents becamo bellicose, after the gloves hud been put away, and one of the esteemed boxing commission was threatened with a licking, us an aftermath. The affair was a slambang affair with Carlson having the better of the open work, and Webb excelling at close quarters, especially when he had John on the ropes. Both landed some rib roasters that could be heard a block away as they socked each other on the jaw savagely. The semt-finul between Chauncey Hooker and Joe Harrell was called a draw, but Hooker really out run and outgrounted his opponent. Mr. Hooker would assume a terrifying pose, a la Roman gladiator killing a Nubian Hon, and maintain It till the foe got too close. Harrell finally stood still, and gave up nil hopes of over catching Hooker, who Seeing the footrace was off, mixed It. - 'Noble Everett and Benjamin Har rell mixed again, Noble getting the decision, . and winning it hands down. ' The two Draws bqys furnished the curtain raiser, another draw. ' Manager Brown announced thnl tho boxing commission had investi gated the last Trick-Daws embrollgio, nnd decided Frlck won it, which ev erybody knew, but was called a draw for some reason. Of the dozen or more merchants who huve under consideration taking one of the twelve by twelve foot spaces there no doubt will be some who will decide to exhibit. To ac commodate them it will necessitate the enlargement of the pavilion and to do this the officers of the fair as sociation ask that a decision be ar rived at immediately in order that arrangements may be made to build for tho additional space. Earlier disorders at Jacksonville, Fla., were followed by the dynamit ing of the home of J. A. Williams, foreman in the Seaboard Air nine railroad shops and a member of the city council. The front of the house was damaged, but Williams and his wife escaped injury, , Proposals were made to United States Marshal MacDonald by strik ing shopmen at Shawnee, Okla., to replace federal and company guards at railroad shops with strikers. Quiet was restored in the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific yards at Herrington, Kans., following the shooting of a fireman by a railroad guard and a general suspension of work. ' I'. S.
