METVFOTiT) MXTL" TRIBUNE, MTCnFORD, OREGON. FRIDAY. 'AUOUST 2.. 1!)2'2
PACE THREE
Frankie Webb of Portlund and
Johnny Carlson of Gold 11111 fought
an eight round draw at the smoker
of the Medford Athletic club last
.night, before a fair sized crowd. One
of the judses gave the fracas to Carl
son, and the other two called it a
draw, which was a fair and just de
cision. Some of the Carlson udher
ents becamo bellicose, after the
gloves hud been put away, and one
of the esteemed boxing commission
was threatened with a licking, us an
aftermath.
The affair was a slambang affair
with Carlson having the better of
the open work, and Webb excelling
at close quarters, especially when he
had John on the ropes. Both landed
some rib roasters that could be heard
a block away as they socked each
other on the jaw savagely.
The semt-finul between Chauncey
Hooker and Joe Harrell was called a
draw, but Hooker really out run and
outgrounted his opponent. Mr.
Hooker would assume a terrifying
pose, a la Roman gladiator killing a
Nubian Hon, and maintain It till the
foe got too close. Harrell finally
stood still, and gave up nil hopes of
over catching Hooker, who Seeing
the footrace was off, mixed It. -
'Noble Everett and Benjamin Har
rell mixed again, Noble getting the
decision, . and winning it hands down.
' The two Draws bqys furnished the
curtain raiser, another draw.
' Manager Brown announced thnl
tho boxing commission had investi
gated the last Trick-Daws embrollgio,
nnd decided Frlck won it, which ev
erybody knew, but was called a draw
for some reason. Tho young men
will meet and mingle again next
Thursday night.
