McAIister of the Portland Stock Yards gave an' interesting lecture on "Hogs," with motion picture slides to illustrate. There were also shown some very interesting pictures of the club work of interest not only to the young people but to the older people as well. The next community meeting will be held next Monday night at the Griffin creek school house, when Mr. McAIister will agaip address the com munity on "Hogs." OBITUARY TOWNSEXD Alexander P. Town send died at the home, 502 North Riverside, Saturday, Aug. 19th. Ho was born at Republican Grove, Vir ginia, May 7th, lSCa. He went to St. Louis in 1S93 and later moved to Joplin, Mo. His health failed him about a year ago, and ho was in a Denver sani tarium until ten days ago, when he came to Medford for his health and to be with his sisters. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Mrs. Mabel Townsend, and one son, Eugene, aged 11 years; two sis ters. Mrs. V. E. Fetzer and Mrs. -Mary A. Eickermali. Ho was a member of tho First Bap tist church. Funeral services will be held at the Perl Funeral Home Sun day at 2:30 p. m., the Rev. Coy R. Sims officiating. F .MunUy. who is now in charge of operations there. He states that the new tools which are now in the well are being sunk at the rate of,. 20 feet per day and that they are cutting through oil sand which contains showings of oil.
