McLaughlin. A party of young people, with Miss Martena Neal as guest, spent Saturday in Ashland, picnicking in the park and calling on friends. Miss Neal Wednesday morning for her home in Long Ueach, Calif. She will resume her position as head of the -home eco nomics department in the union high school at Anaheim, Calif. Mrs. Ralph Cowgill returned Monday from Portland with a baby daughter. Juanita May. Her many friends extend congratulations. Charles Peldenheimer arrived Thurs day to oversee the harvesting of the large near crop at his orchards here. Mrs. J. W. Birkhotz entertained at dinner on Monday evening in honor of Miss Martena Neal. in, the evening the guests enjoyed music and dancing, and "listened-in" on the radio. Word has been received from Mrs. W. B. Harris, who left some time ago for a trip through California, that she spent a most enjoyable day in San Francisco, visiting Golden Gate park, before going on to Long lleach where she will remain for some time. The J. W. Elden family left Friday morning for a week camping trip to Dead Indian Soda Springs. Mrs. Helen Ilrophy and the Misses Martena Neat, Rose Jones and Leah Parker motored to Grants Pass on Tuesday evening and called on friends. Belmont Pankey is buying melons in this vicinity and hauling them to Huckleberry Mountain -to supply the berry pickers there. . Mrs. Flint, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milam of Phoenix left this week for her home at Duluth, Minn. Mrs. Flint and her two sons have been visiting her parents for several weeks.
