Be sides, the sheriff mast serve all pa pers, and orders, must conduct all public sales, distribute ballot boxes at each election, make arrests for various crimes and other duties too numerous to mention, . Where the rumor came from no one seems to know, but whoever started. It probably knows something about who broke into the Jlaii Tribune shop early last night and made, off with about $30 worth of linotype space bands. Of course tne guilty person either was a linotyper or knows all about linotypes, for no ordinary cracks man would think of taking these In nocent looking pieces of metai. They are small, however, easy to carry, and have a ready market value.
