part of tho national forest land in the
northwest was abandoned today with
receipt of a wire from H. H. Arnold
cnier air orncer or the ninth corps
area, United States air service, in
California. Arnold In his wire stated
that the air service In this area has
been reduced to one squadron of 290
men, whose time is entirely taken with
military work. Ills wire was in reply
to District Forester George H. Cecil
who wired asking what possibilities
existed of air patrol over the wind
blown area of the Olympic national

Work at the Gold Ridge mine is re
ceiving an increased activity since the
re-orgnnlzntlon at the company under
the "Blue Sky corporation law. A
raise is being made from the 400 to the
300 foot level and an excellent ore
chute has been struck according to
stockholders who have recently visited
the mine. The mine Is now operating
and a number of men are at work.
Operation is expected to continue
steadily from now on. Officers elect
ed at the re-organisation of the com
pany are as follows: President, Fred
Sanders; vice president, Guy Childers;
secretary F. M. Gerties; directors, E.

at the army air service base at San
Diego is in Medford visiting old friends
and will remain for about a week. He
states that he likes-Medford better
than any other place on the coast and
that he Intends to locate here in the
future. Harry was associated with
Seely Hall and Floyd Hart when they
ran a passenger carrying plane here
several summers ago.
