Smith and party toured to Prospect yesterday and breukfusted with Jim Grieve after which they went 6 miles above Prospect where thev encountered snow enough to balk them. The car became stuck in a drift and considerable time was cousumcd in extricating It. At first the situation appeared hopeless but finally Mr. Smith hit upon the expedient of oix-n-tng his cut-out and allowing the engine to race. The hot eihamtt gases melfd the snow and all was well. Jim has decided to adopt this plan of combat ting drifts with his . new motor sled which is being made from a Ford and has ordered an exhaust plp long enough to encircle the whole contrap tion with cut outs every six inches on tne way around, wnicn win be opeueu when a serious drift is encountered.
